Abstract:

Key technology trends in photonics -like micro-optics, light sources for multimodal spectroscopy or AI-assisted sensor technology – are currently enabling new and more powerful imaging techniques in endoscopy and surgery. These advancements are pushing medical diagnostic tools beyond standard video techniques, providing more accurate disease identification.

This session is dedicated to the underlying optical or lighting technologies and its impact to the medical use case. Component or equipment manufacturers are invited to show how the technological progress in their lighting or imaging systems is supporting the shift in photonics from a passive visualization tool to a more powerful toolset, such as haptic feedback in robotic surgery, hyperspectral visual imaging or laser-guided surgery instrumentation.
